Interlibrary Loan:

Policy:
The Anthony A. Pupillo Library provides Interlibrary Loan services as an extension to the collections and electronic resources available through the Library. Interlibrary loan services are available to faculty, staff and current students of Briarwood College. Forms are available at the Circulation Desk. A separate form must be filled out for each request. Before submitting an interlibrary loan request, patrons should first check the card catalog to make sure that the Library does not own the material. Certain items such as reference materials, complete journal issues or volumes are not normally available via interlibrary loan. However, photocopies can be requested. The Library adheres to the copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code). Interlibrary loan requests can take an average of two weeks. When items arrive, patrons will be notified via phone or email and may pick up their interlibrary loan requests at the Library 8:30-4:30, Monday through Friday. Conditions of use are set by the lending library, and the Anthony A. Pupillo Library is bound by these conditions. These conditions include length of loan, special restrictions and renewal limitations. All books must be returned to the Anthony A. Pupillo Library by specified date or Interlibrary Loan privileges may be revoked. You will be charged for any material that is not returned and will permanently lose your interlibrary loan privileges. For students, all Interlibrary Loan material must be returned and/or paid for prior to graduation. For additional information, contact the Library, 628-4751 x149.

    Library Instruction:

Library instruction is available to all classes at Briarwood. The Director of Library Services or the Assistant Librarian is available Monday through Saturday to provide this service to our faculty and students. These sessions will be tailored to the needs of each class by focusing on the resources specific to the class. The library instructor will inform the students which resources are available and review how to use them. Instructors can schedule appointments to bring in their class. Please give at least one-week notice.

    Audiovisual Request Procedure:

Staff and faculty: All audiovisual requests for the TV/VCR and the overhead projector must be submitted one week in advance in order to guarantee equipment availability and delivery. The library will not accept same day requests. The student worker picks up the requests by 9:00 a.m. for delivery. All requests must be submitted on the A/V request form, which is available in the Library and Academics Office (LeConche Room 11). Please forward all requests to Virginia DeVivo/Library.

If you need to borrow the laptop or LCD projector, you must bring your Briarwood ID to the Library. No one will be allowed to borrow the equipment without one. If you would like to guarantee equipment availability, you can request the equipment in advance. All equipment must be returned the same day.

    Closed Reserve Procedure:

Full- and part-time instructors may place materials on Closed Reserve in the library. Materials may include textbooks, supplemental reading books, photocopies of articles, videos and study guides. All library materials, except for Reference books, can be placed on reserve. Closed Reserve request forms are available in the library and must be filled out by the instructor. Please use one form for each course. In order to ensure the availability of materials, please place items for reserve one-week before students need them.

A new form must be filled out each semester. Personal materials that are placed on reserve must be removed one week after the end of the semester.
