EDUCATION FOR LIFE
Tuition-Free Education for Life is an extraordinary benefit that enables qualified Briarwood College graduates to return to a Briarwood campus to take additional courses tuition free for the rest of their lives. Qualification for the Education for Life benefit requires Bachelor Degree graduates to successfully complete at least 75% of their Bachelor Degree course credit at Briarwood College and Associate Degree graduates to successfully complete at least 75% of their Associate Degree course credit at Briarwood College.
Qualified Bachelor Degree graduates may return to a Briarwood campus to take additional first year through fourth year credit courses and non-credit courses or to earn additional Bachelor Degrees tuition free for the rest of their lives. Qualified Associate Degree graduates may take additional first year and second year credit courses and non-credit courses or to earn additional Associate Degrees tuition free for the rest of their lives. An Associate Degree graduate is not eligible to return to take third year or fourth year courses tuition free under this benefit.
The Education for Life benefit first became available to new and returning students who enrolled at Briarwood in the fall of 1995. Since then, a number of Briarwood graduates who may not have fully appreciated Education for Life when they first enrolled are returning each year gratified that this extraordinary educational benefit is in place. This revolutionary benefit, believed to be the first of its kind in the nation, enables our graduates to keep up with the latest developments in their chosen careers, inexpensively change careers or to simply take campus-taught credit or non-credit courses that interest them.
The Education for Life benefit includes:
- Pursuit of lifelong learning
- Career development and continuing education
- Additional courses for career advancement
- Preparation for a career change
- Non-credit courses for pleasure
The Education for Life benefit applies to all campus-taught non-credit courses and credit courses. Enrollment is based on eligibility and is on a first-come, first served, seat-available basis. Students are responsible for the application fees, laboratory fees, textbooks, and supplies.
The number of tuition-free students in any course may not exceed the number of tuition-paid students. Online courses are excluded from this benefit. The Board of Directors of Briarwood College reserves the right to effect changes in the Education for Life benefit without prior notice.
