Internships
Students enrolled in the Criminal Justice program are challenged to apply their classroom knowledge by completing an internship in a professional setting. Internships are generally served in law enforcement facilities, state or federal law enforcement facilities, correctional facilities (adult and juvenile), adult or juvenile probation offices and private security companies. The program director works with prospective internship site supervisors to ensure a meaningful and successful on-the-job experience for each student. In many cases, interning students are so well received that full-time employment is offered after graduation. In the past, typical internship sites have included the following locations:
• New Haven Detention Center
• Hartford Police Department
• Lake Grove Residential Facility
• Waterbury Police Department
• Southington Police Department
