The Medical Office Management Program fulfills the mission and objectives of Briarwood College by providing students with the knowledge and skills to promote success in their chosen careers and recognizes the importance of a liberal education, the need for critical thinking, good communication skills and a strong work ethic. The College also encourages the achievement of each student's greatest possible self-worth, self-discipline, and responsible citizenship in a culturally diverse environment. Students who graduate from the Medical Office Management program will have the necessary skill to manage a small medical office; demonstrate the ability to interact effectively; demonstrate integrity in their professional life; and to demonstrate a commitment to community service.

Physician practices with more than three members require additional skills supervising. Other responsibilities include management and training of support staff, coordination of business projects, administrative accounting, labor relations, strategic planning, and budget administration.

The job outlook shows steady growth through 2012 as the health services industry continues to expand and diversify.

The average starting salary range is $28,000 to $35,000 depending on the benefit package and size of the practice.
