Internships
Students are required to serve an internship of 150 hours. During this time, documentation of participation in a minimum of ten embalmings is required, per the American Board of Funeral Service Education. Internships may be done at any funeral home with a sufficient funeral activity to permit the student adequate training. The training is conducted under the supervision of a licensed funeral professional who is a graduate of an ABFSE accredited program. Briarwood College students have interned in a variety of funeral homes including:
• Beecher and Bennett, Hamden, Connecticut
• Alderson Funeral Home, Waterbury, Connecticut
• Church and Allen, Norwich, Connecticut
• Carriage Services of Connecticut
• Service Corporation of Connecticut
"At Carriage Services locations in New England, we currently employ eleven graduates of Briarwood College."
