Internships
Students enrolled in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program are challenged to apply their classroom knowledge by completing an internship in a professional setting. The program director works closely with prospective internship site supervisors to ensure a meaningful and successful on-the-job experience for each student. In many cases, interning students are so well received that full-time employment is offered after graduation. In the past, typical internship sites have included the following locations: • Bristol Hospital • Lancaster School System, NH • Futures • Rehabilitation Hospital of Connecticut • Gaylord Hospital • Southington Public Schools • Harborside Healthcare • Thera-Kids • Hartford Public Schools • Waterbury Hospital Behavioral Services • Haven Healthcare • Westborough State Hospital, MA "Our Briarwood intern was motivated, energetic, and a great asset to our treatment team. She was able to plan client groups and activities without assistance and was very involved in the interdisciplinary team process. We are very happy to have Briarwood students interning at our facility."
